Only One Month Away

The University of Louisville International Service Learning Program embarks on its third trip to Trinidad and Tobago on March 8, 2013.  Our focus for this trip has always been community engagement and this year is no different.  What is especially exciting is the work we will be doing at a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) focused on recycling, as well as meeting students at a secondary school to talk about how recycling helps you to be a good citizen.

The crowning achievement of this trip will be the program sessions our students collaborate on with colleagues and other students from the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine and University of Trinidad and Tobago at the now 3rd Annual Symposium on Community Engagement.  Our students have presented to nearly 200 faculty, staff and students in Trinidad on various topics related to community engagement since our first year.

Last but not least the students see some of the beautiful sites on the islands and interact with the native people to learn firsthand about their culture and history.  We are looking forward to our best trip yet!

  1. I'm so excited about my first trip outside of the country! I am ready to meet the native people and learn more about their culture. It is a great thing for the growth and development with other nations and institutions. I feel like it is a personal achievement as well. I get to give back to contribute to a program that is greater than me which will be of help to someone else. So yes, I'm supper excited and ready to fly on out of here!!

    Bye Bye USA!!
