Faculty Spotlight: Dr. Daniel Montero

  1. Who or what encouraged you to join ISLP
I had served on multiple mission trips prior to joining the ISLP and always found them so rewarding. It feels so good to share my dental skills with communities that unfortunately don’t have access to them.

  1. When did you join ISLP?
I’ve been lucky to participate on the Philippines ISLP since 2016.

  1. How many ISL programs have you participated in?
I’ve assisted 3 trips to the Philippines and looking forward for my 4th in December 2019.

  1. What is one of your favorite memories from the trips?
The opening and closing ceremonies the community prepares for us are always breathtaking. They let us know how thankful they are with our presence there. Don’t want to spoil your experience with more details haha.

  1. Any advice for students interested in ISLP?
DO IT!!! It will be an unforgettable experience, who knows when you’ll have another opportunity to do so. You’ll get to learn about the lifestyle and traditions from other countries, which are very different from what we’re used to. The trip is very well organized where we’ll have time to have fun, work hard, rest, visit important landmarks and even do some shopping.

  1. What's your top travel tip?
Be open minded and always be respectful.

  1. Is there a quote or saying you live by?
“Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift of God, which is why we call it the present.” Bill Keane

  1. What was the last emoji you used?
Imagen relacionada

  1. What's the best piece of travel advice you've received or would like to share?
As I mentioned, be open minded and respectful. In my opinion the coolest part about traveling is learning how things are done on that particular place and regardless I liked it or not, be respectful.

  1. What place is top of your bucket list?
Alaska!!
