Dental Day 1

As Michael stated in the previous dental post, the 10 dental students were very excited and anxious to start seeing patients in the dental clinic in Georgetown!  We are very happy to say that the first day went extremely well!  The dental students, with the help of the students from other disciplines and the faculty, were anble to successfully treat approximately 30 patients today.  These patients consisted of local residents of Georgetown, Belize which has a population of around 300.  The villiage chairman, Domingo, informed us that these residents would not normally have access to dental care.  The people of the villiage were very welcoming of us and pleased that we are here.  We have learned a lot of interesting things about the culture in Belize and are looking forward to the rest of the week!!

I would like to compliment everyone involved today, including the faculty, dental students, students of Justice Administration, Nursing, and Communication on a job well done today in the dental clinic!!  We will keep you updated on the rest of the week in the dental clinic...
