Thus Far
It's been a really long 72+ hours! After getting to Trinidad late Sunday then hopping on a plane to Tobago Monday morning, we were all so excited to finally arrive at Blue Waters Inn on the island. The pictures that the staff had shown us leading up to the trip did it no justice. It was absolutely breathtaking! We were first greeted with a great lunch of fresh fish and other local side items.
Immediately following lunch, we all went snorkeling out in the ocean on a glass bottom boat and got to see the abandoned house where the James Bond films were written! After getting back to the island, we all jumped in the amazing infinity pool overlooking the ocean and stayed there for most of the afternoon before taking a dinner break with more fresh, local food. Afterwards, it was a great time of speaking with locals and swapping information about our daily lives.
Tuesday morning was much of the same--kayaking, swimming out to a floating dock in the ocean, and finding coconuts on the beach and being able to drink the fresh coconut water! As our time on Tobago came to an end, we had lunch at Jemma's Seaview Kitchen where the restaurant was intertwined into trees.
After some quick shopping and eating of fresh coconut ice cream, we were soon back on our way to Trinidad after a 20 minute flight covering the 94 miles between the two islands.
I think I can speak for the rest of the 11 women on the trip and 5 staff members in saying that we are having a magnificent trip thus far! The rest of the week is full of preparing for the Symposium and other projects for our trip. Our little vacation on Tobago has surely spoiled us, but we're really excited to get to work, too!
See y'all soon!
